When I was 11 years old the family friend’s son, who I had a crush on, broke my little heart, and baselined my self-worth.

He told me I looked like a boy (puberty was years away for me) and frigid!??

As my grown-up self, I realise that he was a young boy trying to look tough, and was probably slightly insecure himself. Let’s face it, he didn’t know that what he was saying was breaking my heart and, in the process, starting me on a cycle of low self-worth that took years to break.

I carried that wound of low self-worth around for another 22 years!


Whenever I felt low in self-worth my 11-year old brain would remind me that I looked like a boy and was frigid. I know it’s ridiculous and I’m not 11 anymore however we all have a young wounded little girl still inside us and that’s ok…

What we can’t do any longer is to allow the old voices of the past and old wounds dictate how we feel about ourselves now.

We are ALL worthy of living our own versions of insane happiness and worthy of creating our dreams living a confident, successful life we love.

So, let’s start improving your self-worth and start feeling your worthiness, give your inner child a hug and start feeling amazing.

Self-worth is what you think, feel and believe about yourself, but here’s the thing. It’s called SELF-worth for a reason.

Only you can give it value.
Only you can decide its worth

So since your worth is TOTALLY up to you, I invite you to try these 5 tips to improving your self-worth and start feeling light, confident  and loved.

1. Don’t ask or wait for other people’s approval – give yourself permission to be, do, create and have all you desire in life

2. Stop comparing to others or trying to be someone else – you are amazingly perfect as YOU

3. Allow yourself to accept compliments– because YOU ARE SO DAMN WORTHY

And while you’re at it make someone else feel special totally.



4. Buy yourself flowers, drink out of your best cup, eat off your fine china.

Show yourself the love you crave and deserve, take a little time for self-care even if it’s only 10 minutes a day.

5. Celebrate your path to where you are now all the ups and the downs have made you who you are.
