Keeping Calm This Christmas…Whilst Christmas is fun, festive and full of love, it is equally stressful and exhausting

Putting in the hard yards to give those you love a memorable Christmas often means sacrificing YOUR needs and YOUR ease of mind.

However, this Christmas will be different. This Christmas you will be able to enjoy the day without the unneeded (yet sometimes inevitable) stresses of gift buying, food preparing and entertaining guests.

The dread of Christmas (Let’s be honest, we’ve all been there) will lessen, and as a weight is lifted off your shoulders, you will finally be able to enjoy and celebrate the day with your loved ones in a way that makes you happy.

Let go of your worries and keep calm this Christmas by following these 5 simple steps.

Keeping Calm This Christmas

Create Lists

Creating to do lists clears a confused mind. Often, it is the thought and pressure of completing stacks of chores before the quickly approaching deadline of Dec 25 which can hold you back from being your most cool, calm and collected self during Christmas.

Ticking off chores for your checklist, like making the house presentable in time for visitors is a fulfilling way to create within yourself a sense of achievement in this chaotic time of year.

Set Realistic Expectations

It is important to set reasonable expectations for Christmas, so that rather than getting caught up in the “what if’s” and the “maybe’s”, you can focus on what you KNOW to be true. If you know that every year you begrudgingly converse with that frustratingly strange uncle (Yes…THAT one!!) in hopes that it may change one year, then you should consider changing such habits and instead spend quality time with those who appreciate you. Don’t place unrealistic expectations on the outcome of the day, instead, reignite your jolly attitude by diving in head first with a more rational, clear outlook on the day ahead of you.

Set a Budget

Christmas often comes with infinite price tags and major overspending, frequently justified by somethings “cuteness” or the bright red sale tag that catches your eye. Rather than splashing out on gifts (which are at times forgotten about after a month tops – let’s be real), you can make a budget to keep yourself from splurging.

By doing so, you can easily stop yourself from catching those post-christmas blues which come about after reading the dreaded balance owed to the bank! You can have a very Merry Christmas… even without breaking the bank!

Sleep, Move and Eat Well

I cannot stress enough how important this is! Eating the colours of the rainbow and managing YOUR health allows you to THRIVE, rather than just survive. This energy and confidence created by keeping up your wellbeing will spread joy to all who enter your merry presence. You will truly embody the festive season and be able to keep calm even during the more hectic times!

Say No More Than Yes

In order to enjoy YOUR Christmas, you need to be honest with yourself, and also others around you. Don’t bite off more than you can chew, and say no to the many promised “drop-in’s” to family and friends on your already crazy Christmas day. Allow yourself to indulge in what you want for a change!
