1. Plan, plan and plan
The secret to every favourite treat is in the recipe “the plan”. The secret to a more relaxing Christmas day is in “the plan”. Sit down and make a list of what still needs to be done and put them in priority. Make a list of what you are serving to those you love and write a list of what you still need to get from the shops. Creating a plan helps clear your head, give you direction as you navigate the crazy shops and save you time and money
2. Decide what’s important to you
And let go of the rest! We must remember that we always have the choice to say ‘yes”or “no”. We don’t need to attend every Christmas party, buy our loved ones expensive gifts, or go overboard with food. So what if Uncle Johnny doesn’t like your potato bake or your Aunt Beryl likes to complain. Let that go and do what feels good and important to you.
3. Permission to drop the diet.
Yep. take this day to enjoy the Christmas table, even if it’s outside of your everyday diet. Enjoy yourself! Food and celebration go together like bread and butter, and if pavlova makes you happy, or two helpings of plum pudding gives you the Christmas tingles. Enjoy them.
4. Get outside!
Even if you need to loosen the waistband of your pants get outside. It’s the easiest and most cost-effective stress-releasing medicine on the market. Getting outside and enjoy the fresh air, moving your body has been scientifically proven to improve your mood by increasing serotonin levels, and in turn will support your physical health.
5. Set new, positive intentions
Forget New Years resolutions, let’s create a list for all ways we want to feel, things we want to achieve, ways we wish to grow, and experiences we’d love to have had come this time next year. By setting an intention, we’re putting it out there via strong belief and attraction, and that holds great power.
